Jewish
tradition teaches us that the Torah by itself is not Judaism. It is
only through interpretation and study that we access the true genius and
meaning of its stories. Yohanan Lowen will
continue his popular Talmud classes by focusing on the inspiring ethical
teachings of the great sages of the Babylonian Talmud including Rav
Hisda, Abba Aricha, Samuel of Nehardea and Mar Ukva.
The
course will be offered on a weekly basis, throughout the fall (except
during the High Holiday weeks) starting Mondays at noon: Sept 8, 15, 22,
Oct 20, 27, Nov 3, 10, 17. Registration fee for the 8 classes is $72, and $100 for non-members.

GUESS WHO'S COMING TO SHABBAT (GWCTS)?
Friday, October 10th - All over Montreal
GWCTS
partners congregants with one another for Shabbat dinners in their own
homes. The program has two goals: First, to strengthen the synagogue
community; we ask you to invite someone you don't know very well and to
form a new friendship. Second, to help families build meaningful Shabbat
memories.
The
first dinner will be during Succot so if you have a sukkah here is a
great chance to share the holiday experience with other members of the
congregation. Get into the community spirit and join this great
initiative! If you have been a guest in the past, please consider paying
it forward and hosting your own. To sign up to host a dinner fill in
the form at the link below or send an email to dorsheishabbatdinners@gmail.com. Let us know who you are inviting or we can suggest invitees should you need some help in this area.
