This Friday,
May 23 at 6:30pm
Join us for a
warm, casual, and musical Kabbalat Shabbat experience designed
especially for families and welcoming of all. We'll join together for
an upbeat, musical service with Rabbi Julia and guest musicians, share
a potluck Shabbat dinner, and spend time with new friends and old.
Supervised games for kids after dinner! If you are interested in
playing an instrument at the service, be in touch with Rabbi Julia. For
the Potluck: Please bring a vegetarian dish to share, cut and ready to
serve, to feed at least 10 people. Also please bring hallah,

PBM PARENT INFORMATION SESSION

We are currently
in the process of recruiting and registering participants for the
upcoming Pre B'nei Mitzvah Group, and are asking for your help in
spreading the word about our unique program. As graduates of the
program you and your child are in best possible position to share your
experiences with friends, family, colleagues and neighbors. If
you know the family of a child who will be entering grade 6 in the fall
and who is looking for a program that:

Provides a family learning experience

Is welcoming of inter-faith families

Encourages a modest congregational Kiddush

Offers equal participation for men and women

Focuses on Jewish values and becoming ethical people

We are hosting a Parent Information Session on
Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30pm. Both Rabbi Ron and
Rabbi Julia will be on hand to meet with parents and share with them
the exciting plans for this coming year's program.

On Shavuot we
celebrate the giving of Torah on Mt. Sinai. But how did the Five Books
of Moses as a literary document come about? The Torah is filled with
parallel and often contradictory narratives and laws. How do we account
for these discrepancies? What do they tell us about the nature of Torah
and who put it together? More importantly, as contemporary Jews, what
larger teaching can we draw from this understanding of Torah?

Using The Torah: A
Women's Commentary as a guide, we will explore the biblical account of
the divine revelation at Mt. Sinai. Our focus will be on Moses' command
to "not go near a woman" in advance of this dramatic moment
(Exodus 19:15).
Shavuot
Friends and Family Services and Blintzes/Tiramisu Making
Wednesday, June 4, 10am-12:30pm
We begin our celebration of Shavuot at 10am with a musical Family
Shavuot Service led by Rabbi Julia - singing, movement,
discussion, and storytelling about the holiday of Shavuot. At 11am
we head downstairs to the kitchen to create delicious Shavuot
delicacies with Patrizia - blintzes and tiramisu! It is a
tradition on Shavuot to eat dairy foods because in the verse from
Song of Songs (4:11), it is written "Like honey and milk [the
Torah] lies under your tongue;" just as a baby is sustained
by milk, we are spiritually sustained by Torah. We'll say Kiddush
together and taste our efforts. We then join the main sanctuary
for the end of the Shavuot holiday service, followed by
congregational Kiddush lunch. The Toddlers' Room on our second
floor balcony will be open for small children accompanied by an
adult. Toys and games are available and the room is equipped with
audio feed from the sanctuary.

special Yiddish Dance Party. Steve Weintraub, the
renowned Philadelphia-based Yiddish dance instructor, accompanied
by The Rachel Lemisch Tantzhoyz Spectacular, will lead
and teach Yiddish/international dance aficionados, both experienced and
novices.
The evening is
being held free of charge with the support of CJA
Generations Fund and The Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal.

Minyan takes place
most Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:30 am, followed by breakfast.
Monday is a traditional davening and Torah reading. Wednesday is a
Mindfulness Meditation minyan.
If you are saying
Kaddish, observing a yahrzeit, or marking a special occasion, please
