LEARNER'S SHABBAT MORNING SERVICE
This Saturday, October 25
10:00-12:00pm in the Social Hall
New
to Judaism or newly returning? Want to brush up on Shabbat morning
service order and meanings, or just enjoy more questions and discussion
during services? Join this year's PBM families for a special Learner's
Service led by Rabbi Julia. We'll learn the basic parts of a Jewish
prayer service that are common to all services, prayer choreography
(when do I stand and sit and why?), Dorshei Emet traditions, and more.
Learn tunes or jump in with questions - we're all in this together. Everyone is welcome to attend.
DORSHEI 20's AND 30's SCHMOOZE
Wednesday October 29, 7:30pm
What
do you want from your shul? How can Dorshei better foster community for
members in their 20s and 30s? Part of our yearlong Reimagining Dorshei
Emet initiative; it's an informal evening of shmoozing and refreshments
with a purpose. Meet (or re-meet!) other Dorshei members in their 20's
and 30's, find out about hands-on projects and social opportunities, and
get yourself heard. Share your ideas with peers and with Rabbi Ron,
Rabbi Julia, and Synagogue President Eada Rubinger.

HAGBAH TRAINING WORKSHOP- COMING SOON TO A BIMAH NEAR YOU!
We
will be offering a Hagbah Training Workshop. Hagbah is the honour given
to a member whereby he or she lifts the Torah after it has been read
and shows the Hebrew script to the congregation. Since the Torah may be
heavy there is a technique to lifting the Torah which greatly
facilitates this honor. All members are welcome. This may be of particular interest to young adults. No experience required. The workshop will be given by Roger Antebi. Time and date to be confirmed.
