The Great Sukkah Building Challenge

SIMHAT TORAH COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AND DANCING WITH THE TORAH

5:30 PM : Snacks in the lobby for children
6:00 PM: Torah service and hakkafot (Torah parade)
Come celebrate our finishing the yearly cycle of the Torah reading and starting it anew! Everyone is invited to see the Torah up close and dance with the Torah around the synagogue. Children are especially invited to participate in the Torah parade. Bring rattles, bells, cymbals, and other percussion instruments for a rollicking good time. We will also invite up our Hattan Torah Brahm Shiller and our Kallat Bereishit Yolande Martel for special aliyot of the very last and very first verses of the Torah.

SIMHAT TORAH DINNER - SE'UDAT SIYYUM
Thursday, September 26, 2013 -Hakkafot 6:00pm / Dinner 7:30pm
Please join us as we celebrate this year's honourees are Brahm Shiller, Hatan Torah and Yolande Martel, Kallat Bereishit, in recognition of their years of devoted service to our synagogue. DORSHEI EMET'S LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Our Little Free Library has outgrown the shelf at the shul entrance, so we've moved it to the lounge. We appreciate all of the donations everyone brought in, especially the books for children and youth.  There has been more giving than borrowing lately, so the Kehilla Committee invites you to please help yourself to a book or two! 


ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES AT DORSHEI EMET
THE JOY OF ISRAEL LITERATURE
Wednesdays at noon, October 16, 39, November 13
This class will explore the eclectic landscape of Israeli literature. The series opens with a general overview of the historical and biographical background of the four authors and their short stories that will be examined in subsequent classes. 
The course will be lead by eminent Montreal educator, Dr. Rotstein, who has taught Hebrew literature at the Boston Hebrew College and at Concordia for four decades.

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT ATARA'S JOURNEY
Monday, Sept.30, 2013 at the Summit School. 
Dorshei Emet member, Atara Stolovitsky, daughter of Erika Tencer and Jonathan Silver, is a 17 year old girl with Down's Syndrome.  She has been chosen to be the next participant in an amazing, intensive 2-week program at the Curacao Dolphin Therapy Center this coming November. Dolphin Aid Canada Film Fundraiser Event is featuring the award winning film, "Dolphin Boy". Tickets on sale through the link:https://dolphinaidtherapy.eventbrite.com/ 

MORNING MINYAN
Minyan takes place every Monday and Wednesday morning at 7:30 am, followed by breakfast. Monday is a traditional davening and Torah reading. Wednesday is a Mindfulness Meditation minyan.
