On Tu Bishvat, we taste foods from the land of Israel, like dates, nuts, figs, and other produce. We also remember to treat the land kindly, and we hope that even though they are hidden under the snow, the trees and plants are healthy and will bloom again in the spring. Join us for a family Tu Bishvat seder and celebrate the trees and the gifts they give us. We'll be tasting interesting fruits, learning about them, and planting parsley - which will grow in time for use at the Passover seder in the spring! The 26th annual Tu Bi'Shevat Telethon/Tree-A-Thon will take place this Sunday, January 26, 2014. (the 26th on the 26th!) This year, JNF/KKL is asking for the community's help to plant trees in Adamit Park, a recreational area situated a mere one kilometer from the Lebanese border. The park holds special meaning because of its close proximity to where, in 2006, IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were abducted just prior to the Second Lebanese War.
