Passover Yizkor Services at 10:00 am
|
Speaker:
Each year on the final day of Passover Yizkor we expand our Yizkor service to include a Yom Ha-Shoah Memorial. Remembering the Holocaust at Passover is fitting since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising took place on the eve of the first Seder, 1943.
Our decision to connect our remembrance of the Shoah with Passover emerged from the deeper questions: How do we celebrate the Festival of Freedom and deliverance from slavery in the post-Holocaust age? How should the Shoah be remembered? What is the message we want to give to future generations?

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!
On the heels of the Haggadah exhortation to "let all who are hungry come and eat," please help us make Dorshei Emet's next 'Empty Bowls' event, Sunday April 14th, 11 AM to 2 PM, another rousing success. So far, since 2001, we and our sister congregation at the Unitarian Church of Montreal have raised over $100,000 to help feed the hungry in and around Montreal. This year's beneficiaries are our own Hannukah Food Baskets project Café Santropol. 'Empty Bowls' arose in 1990 when a Michigan art teacher hit on a way to help students support a food drive: a class project to make ceramic bowls for a fund raising meal. Come one and all, and help us make this year's event the best one ever! Music, art, and camaraderie for one and all. Please contact Marsha Heyman at heyman@videotron.ca or 514 488-3270
